EGAT Activities By Regions
Tanzania is administratively divided into 31 regions (mikoa): 26 regions on Mainland Tanzania and 5 regions in Zanzibar. Each region is headed by a Regional Commissioner (RC) and is further divided into districts, councils, wards, and villages or other local administrative units.
This administrative structure provides an important framework for coordinating public services, development programmes, environmental management, and community engagement across the country.

From National Strategy to Local Action
Our regional representatives will help EGAT understand environmental challenges at the local level while connecting communities with technical knowledge, opportunities, partnerships, and practical solutions.
Through this network, EGAT aims to create a two-way platform: bringing national and international environmental knowledge to communities while ensuring that local experiences and priorities inform environmental planning and decision-making.
From every region, EGAT seeks to listen, connect, act, and create measurable environmental impact.
