At Environmental Green Action Tanzania (EGAT), our projects turn environmental challenges into practical, community-driven solutions. We work across Tanzania to protect ecosystems, strengthen climate resilience, promote sustainable development, and empower communities through research, innovation, education, and partnerships.

Our programmes focus on mangrove and ecosystem restoration, climate resilience, disaster risk reduction, Green Cities, environmental education, sustainable waste management, biodiversity conservation, and environmental research and data solutions.

Together, we are restoring nature, strengthening communities, and building a greener and more resilient Tanzania.

Green Cities Tanzania Initiative (GCTI)

This project aims to promote greener, healthier, climate-resilient cities through urban greening and sustainable planning.

Mangrove (Mikoko)Restoration Programme

To restore and protect mangrove ecosystems while strengthening the climate and disaster resilience, livelihoods, and environmental stewardship of coastal communities in Tanzania.

Plastic-Free Tanzania Campaign

To reduce plastic pollution in Tanzania by preventing plastic leakage into communities, rivers, lakes and oceans while creating community-based circular-economy solutions for plastic collection, reuse, recycling and alternative materials.

Environmental Education & Green Schools Programme

To transform schools into environmentally responsible, climate-resilient and resource-efficient learning environments while equipping children, teachers and communities with practical knowledge and skills to protect and restore ecosystems.
